Carowinds Announces “Aeronautica Landing”

While several attractions at Carowinds received their “final boarding call” a few days ago, get ready for take off at Carowinds with the all-new Aeronautica Landing. Five new attractions are headed to the former “Crossroads” area of Carowinds, part of a land that describes itself as “a tribute to the Carolinas’ spirit of invention, exploration and aviation, where guests can immerse themselves in the history and future of flight.”

“Landing” at Aeronautica Landing in 2023 will be:

  • Air Racer, a Zamperla Air Race
  • Air Walker, a Zamperla Disk’O

  • Gear Spin, a Zamperla NebulaZ
  • Gyroforce, a classic Trabant ride
  • Hover and Dodge, best described as Hovercraft Bumper Cars.

In addition, Aeronautica Landing will boast two new and one upgraded dining venues. This includes a new restaurant featuring a craft beer bar and patio, alongside the refresh of an existing location and other new snack locations.

Modeled after high-end and exclusive sky clubs, the new Terminal A restaurant and bar offers top-tier service, delicious eats, and craft beer on a stunning patio. Ask the friendly staff about the history of Carolina aviation and the flight jackets on display.

Drop in for delicious treats at Air Drop Supply Co., the new walk-up diner. A unique kitchen from a container simulating those that are filled with supplies and dropped from airplanes to people below. Give the “Sky-High Dog” a try!

This family-friendly area with immersive décor will feature a game zone complete with four new midway games, including an innovative acrobatic challenge, and the retheming of a classic basketball challenge.

Aeronautica Landing is the fifth re-themed area to be introduced at Carowinds since Carolina Harbor in 2016, joining County Fair in 2017, Camp Snoopy in 2018 and Blue Ridge Junction in 2019.

The 2023 operating season also marks the beginning of “50 Years of Carolina Fun,” a one-of-a-kind Charlotte event bringing together all elements of a landmark celebration. Throughout the season, guests will be treated to impressive entertainment, unique eats and drinks, and specialty merchandise honoring Carowinds’ past, present, and future.

Additional details regarding the anniversary activities will be available in the coming months. Stay tuned to https://www.carowinds.com/new-in-2023/50th-anniversary for more information.

“I am proud to be celebrating the golden anniversary of Carowinds as well as the amazing associates who have delivered on our goal to make our guests happy,” said Manny Gonzalez, Carowinds vice president and general manager. “I look forward to the next exciting 50 years as we continue to bring happiness to our community.”

“We are constantly looking for new ways to provide immersive experiences for our guests that showcase the rich history and heritage of the Carolinas, while showcasing the rich legacy and original themes of Carowinds,” Gonzalez continued. “This region played such an integral role in the history of developing and testing the tools for aviation, and we believe Aeronautica Landing will help bring that to life for our guests for years to come.”
