These are the roller coasters that have been officially announced.

Artic Rescue at SeaWorld San Diego

SeaWorld San Diego officially announced their new roller coaster for 2023 will be an Intamin Family Launch coaster, looking pretty similar to Wave Breaker at sister park SeaWorld San Antonio. The multi-launch coaster is themed to a snowmobile rescuing animals in distress. You’ll go through three separate launches on the ride, each getting slightly faster, from 34mph to 38mph to 40 mph. In total it will be 2800 feet long, and stay pretty close to the ground with heights up to 30 feet.

Big Bear Mountain at Dollywood

In 2023, Dollywood will open Big Bear Mountain, a triple-launch family coaster that will be the longest in the park at nearly 4,000 feet.

Mattel Adventure Park will feature Hot Wheels, a Chance Rides Hyper GT-X coaster (think Lightning Run at Kentucky Kingdom) and Bone Shaker, a family-friendly Chance Rides coaster.

Circuit Breaker at COTALand

Austin, Texas’ Circuit of the Americas (COTA), known primarily for racing, is about to pop up on the radar of more roller coaster enthusiasts (or at least your crazy relatives who tag you in Facebook posts asking “Would you ride this?!?!” COTALand will be home to North America’s first “Tilt” Coaster, Circuit Breaker, which is scheduled to open in 2023.

Roller Coasters Opening in 2023

Kid Flash Cosmic Coaster at Six Flags Fiesta Texas and Six Flags Over Georgia

In a surprise December announcement, Six Flag Fiesta Texas revealed it would open the first “P’Sghetti Bowl” coaster model from Skyline Attractions.

Its compact layout will occupy a space of 79 feet by 162 feet and will have a height requirement of 36 inches. The track will cross over itself a total of 11 times.

Six Flags Over Georgia will also open the same coaster (with the same name) in 2023.

Pipeline: The Surf Coaster at SeaWorld Orlando

Ready to “shred the gnar?” After months of teasing a #HighSurfAdvisory, SeaWorld Orlando has announced the parks seventh roller coaster, Pipeline: The Surf Coaster, scheduled to open next spring. The Surf Coaster is best described as a “next generation” Stand-Up model from B&M, and the seats will feature movement so that riders can experience “Wave Jumping motions” while riding.

Rookie Racer at Six Flags St. Louis

Six Flags St. Louis surprised us with a last-minute addition to the new-for-2023 roster — Rookie Racer. The Vekoma family coaster, themed to a Formula 1 race, will feature a top speed of 27 mph along its 843 feet of track.

TRON: Lightcycle Power Run at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom

At the D23 Expo in September 2022, Disney confirmed the long await Tron coaster will not open (at least not officially) in 2022. Originally announced in 2017 (and forcing the Walt Disney World Railroad to be closed since 2018), Tron is now set to open in spring 2023. Seems there is still much work to do on the interior.

Wild Mouse at Cedar Point

Cedar Point’s new-for-2023 coaster is a modern take on a boardwalk classic, a spinning Wild Mouse coaster that will be a flagship attraction in the park’s reimagined Boardwalk area.

Wildcat’s Revenge at Hersheypark

Hersheypark’s new-for-2023 Wildcat’s Revenge is a Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC) conversion of its former Wildcat wooden coaster. The coaster will stand 140 feet tall, feature an 82-degree first drop, reach a top speed of 62 mph and pack four inversions, including the world’s largest “underflip” element — an inversion that begins with an upward climb, followed by a counterclockwise 270-degree roll and a dive down towards the side.

Zambezi Zinger at Worlds of Fun

Worlds of Fun’s new-for-2023 hybrid wood/steel coaster, Zambezi Zinger, features the same name as the park’s former Schwarzkopf coaster that closed in 1997. Although the original and the new Zinger are wildly different, they do share a unique spiral-style lift hill. The coaster will be a mix of Great Coaster International’s new steel Titan Track and traditional wood plus the new Infinity Flyer trains.

Primordial at Lagoon Park

Not much is known about this mysterious interactive coaster but it has finally been confirmed by Lagoon as opening in 2023. Everything we know about Primordial here.

2023 Coasters Teased But Not Announced

The following 2023 roller coasters that parks have teased or previewed but have not yet officially announced.

Palindrome at COTALAND was supposed to open in late 2022 but looks like it is now opening in 2023. Same with AerieForce One at Fun Spot America.

American Dreier Looping at Indiana Beach

Was supposed to have opened by now but it hasn’t so we’re assuming this is now a 2023 coaster.

Matugani at Lost Island

The Intamin launch coaster relocated from Sweden was supposed to open in 2022 but it hasn’t happened.

Reimagined Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point

In September 2022, Cedar Point announced they are closing Top Thrill Dragster, the world’s second tallest roller coaster. However, they also said “our team is hard at work, creating a new and reimaged ride experience. We’ll share more details and information at a later date.” So it appears the coaster is not entirely going away but will rather be rebranded and potentially upgraded with a new experience. At this time, it’s unclear if Top Thrill Dragster will be a 2023 or 2024 project. Stay tuned.

Keep checking back as more parks announced their 2023 coasters! And we’ll soon be looking ahead to 2024 as well, since a new Zamperla launch coaster has already been annouced.
