Cedar Fair Announces New “Prestige” Pass for Cedar Point, Kings Island, and Carowinds

Cedar Fair has recently rolled out a new passholder level for three of its properties – the Prestige Pass. Debuting at Cedar Point, Kings Island, and Carowinds, the Prestige Pass is available in two versions, Prestige, and Prestige+, and includes all of the benefits that passholders have come to expect with Gold and Platinum passes, with some added additional benefits.

First, a quick rundown of the passholder structure at these three parks. Each park offers a “Gold” season pass, which, at the base level typically includes all-season admission, free parking, a 10% discount on food and beverage, early entry, passholder events, the “Pass Perks” rewards program,  and admission to Halloween and Winter events (if applicable) at each individual park. There are a few nuances at each location, but this is a good “rule of thumb” level. Cedar Fair also offers a “Platinum” season Pass, which gets you this level of access (with a few exceptions) at every park in the Cedar Fair chain. (We broke the costs, and what was included (and not-included) last year – Click Here!)

Where the new pass differs is added benefits for the 2023 season. In addition to the above, 2023 Prestige Passholders receive the following at the park where their pass was purchased:

  • 15% Discount on Food and Merchandise (Up from 10%)
  • “Enhanced” Pass Perks
  • Included Preferred Parking (Upgraded from “Regular” parking)
  • A “Preferred” Dedicated Entrance for 2 hours each day. (This is NOT two hours of ERT.)
  • One “front-of-the-line-pass” (Quick Q) per visit
  • Two One-Day Free Bring-A-Friend Tickets Annually
  • Access to VIP areas inside the park and water park.

Prestige+ Passholders, also receive admission and parking to all Cedar Fair parks as well. Prestige perks will vary by park. It’s worth noting that VIP area access, Preferred Parking, and Preferred entrances will not begin until the 2023 season.

The prices for the parks’ passes are as follows:

  • Carowinds
    • Prestige: $225
    • Prestige+: $325
  • Cedar Point & Kings Island
    • Prestige: $299
    • Prestige+ $399

Based on the Michgian’s Adventure website, a 2023 Cedar Fair Platinum Pass will be $250 ($240 for renewals.) As of this writing, Gold Pass Prices are not available for Carowinds, Kings Island or Cedar Point. (They’re traditionally announced on the same day as capital expansions, which this year should be around August 11.)

We’ll have our annual breakdown in the coming days, but if you can’t wait, our friends at CPFoodBlog have their own thoughts if the upgrades to Prestige/+ are worth it! What are your thoughts on this new pass? Let us know in the comments below!
