2022 Coaster101 Park Mania: The Finals

If you’ve been following along, we’re in the midst of #C101ParkMania. There are four parks remaining — Silver Dollar City, Worlds of Fun, Busch Gardens Tampa, and Indiana Beach.

However, during the semi-finals, we were alerted to and noticed a discrepancy in votes, which we then investigated. Based on our judgement, these votes were considered fraudulent. In total, between the two match-ups, there were more than 35 IP addresses that cast at least 50 votes, and 10 that had cast well over 100 votes each. In fairness to those who were voting legitimately, we temporarily paused, and then suspended voting for the Semi-Final round. This was not an easy decision, and people were quick to accuse Coaster101 of rigging the contest or ensuring that [Park] won or lost. Not our intention at all, and it was actually quite the opposite. We were trying to keep the voting as fair as possible.

Just a friendly reminder that this is NOT a scientific contest. Never has been designed as one. It’s meant to be fun, and engage the parks and their fans to interact, and have a little last bit of off-season fun (for most of the parks. We all love our home parks, but there’s no reason to spam votes or find ways to circumvent the voting system, all in the name of a small (albeit quite nice and custom) trophy that will be sent to a park to sit on the shelf of someone in their marketing and communications department.

This year, given the circumstances of the voting, the format of the finals will change. It is a winner-take-all vote for the last four remaining parks in this year’s bracket. All previous votes in the semi-final round will be discarded – because frankly, we don’t have the the time, and it’s not worth the time we do have to go back and determine hpw many of the votes were legitimate or not. The final ballot is below.

The Results Are In! Come Back Tomorrow To See Who Won!

This round, the results will be hidden during the voting, but we will reveal the final results after voting is concluded on April 5. While we will not provide exact results during the voting process, we will provide intermittent updates and standings on our social media channels. We will remain as transparent as possible, but are trying to eliminate the need for spamming and bots, and things of that nature. Again. This is a fun voting exercise. Nothing more. If you want to spam a theme park vote, go vote for Daddy Pig’s Roller Coaster in the USA 10Best Poll. We’re all for rallying a fan base. Go for it. But we don’t need a concentrated effort to outsmart the voting process.

There will be additional measures in place to ensure fair voting, including limiting votes by cookies and IP addresses. Please. Please please please. Don’t give us a reason to cancel this thing entirely. We’ll be monitoring votes and IP addresses, and reserve the right to block or disqualify votes we deem fraudulent. Voting will take place from 8:00am on April 2 through 8:00pm eastern on Tuesday, April 5. We will announce the winner on Coaster101.com on Wednesday, April 6.

We tried to make this final round as fair as possible for all the parks. We appreciate all of the support and participation, and are hoping that you all enjoy this final round. Except for the people who think we have a rooting interest in our own poll or are trying to screw over their home park. Neither of those things are true. It’s also not that serious. Calm down.

Best of luck to the remaining four parks!
