If you’ve been following along, we’re in the midst of #C101ParkMania. There are four parks remaining — Silver Dollar City, Worlds of Fun, Busch Gardens Tampa, and Indiana Beach.
However, during the semi-finals, we were alerted to and noticed a discrepancy in votes, which we then investigated. Based on our judgement, these votes were considered fraudulent. In total, between the two match-ups, there were more than 35 IP addresses that cast at least 50 votes, and 10 that had cast well over 100 votes each. In fairness to those who were voting legitimately, we temporarily paused, and then suspended voting for the Semi-Final round. This was not an easy decision, and people were quick to accuse Coaster101 of rigging the contest or ensuring that [Park] won or lost. Not our intention at all, and it was actually quite the opposite. We were trying to keep the voting as fair as possible.
Just a friendly reminder that this is NOT a scientific contest. Never has been designed as one. It’s meant to be fun, and engage the parks and their fans to interact, and have a little last bit of off-season fun (for most of the parks. We all love our home parks, but there’s no reason to spam votes or find ways to circumvent the voting system, all in the name of a small (albeit quite nice and custom) trophy that will be sent to a park to sit on the shelf of someone in their marketing and communications department.
This year, given the circumstances of the voting, the format of the finals will change. It is a winner-take-all vote for the last four remaining parks in this year’s bracket. All previous votes in the semi-final round will be discarded – because frankly, we don’t have the the time, and it’s not worth the time we do have to go back and determine hpw many of the votes were legitimate or not. The final ballot is below.
Park Mania Finals
The Results Are In! Come Back Tomorrow To See Who Won!
This round, the results will be hidden during the voting, but we will reveal the final results after voting is concluded on April 5. While we will not provide exact results during the voting process, we will provide intermittent updates and standings on our social media channels. We will remain as transparent as possible, but are trying to eliminate the need for spamming and bots, and things of that nature. Again. This is a fun voting exercise. Nothing more. If you want to spam a theme park vote, go vote for Daddy Pig’s Roller Coaster in the USA 10Best Poll. We’re all for rallying a fan base. Go for it. But we don’t need a concentrated effort to outsmart the voting process.
There will be additional measures in place to ensure fair voting, including limiting votes by cookies and IP addresses. Please. Please please please. Don’t give us a reason to cancel this thing entirely. We’ll be monitoring votes and IP addresses, and reserve the right to block or disqualify votes we deem fraudulent. Voting will take place from 8:00am on April 2 through 8:00pm eastern on Tuesday, April 5. We will announce the winner on Coaster101.com on Wednesday, April 6.
We tried to make this final round as fair as possible for all the parks. We appreciate all of the support and participation, and are hoping that you all enjoy this final round. Except for the people who think we have a rooting interest in our own poll or are trying to screw over their home park. Neither of those things are true. It’s also not that serious. Calm down.
Best of luck to the remaining four parks!
Shouldn’t it be Busch Gardens Tampa??
Fixed. Sorry.
Busch Gardens Tampa is in the Final Four, so why does the poll say BG Williamsburg?
Fixed. Sorry.
Coaster101.com, thank you for a fun way to show support for our favorite park! And for doing the best you can to make it fair.
Why can’t Indian beach be disqualified for cheating?!?! There is no way that 1500 votes can come in within 30 minutes. Indiana Beach fanboys just jealous that Busch Gardens Tampa is better!
Indiana Beach has a huge, grassroots and loyal following. They’re doing a huge social media campaign to advertise the poll, and everyone is so passionate that they’re all making sure to vote. You don’t have that same level of passion and loyalty toward the big name parks. Indiana Beach has consistently held similar levels of votes through each round. Busch Gardens only suddenly jumped up in their vote totals when they went up against IB.
They’re not cheating. We all here in Indiana want Indiana Beach open again. It’s our legacy and our history not to mention our only theme park here in Indiana
Ummm, Holiday World is in Indiana. You’re missing out if you haven’t been, it’s worth a two day visit if you think it’s too far from you.
Not our only park in Indiana there’s also Holiday World.
So let me get this straight. IB is a closed park, not in operation, and yet it is in the finals, while BGT is open, running and operational, has a new coaster, has history of at least 60 years, and yet we are cheating.
Where have you been for the last 2 years lol? While the previous owner of Indiana Beach announced during the off-season in 2020 that they were closing the park, within 6 weeks the park was purchased and opened that season without skipping a beat. Massive investments have been made to the park, including 2 new coasters this year. Indiana Beach has been around for nearly 100 years, and the only thing the closure scare did was renew the excitement and loyalty toward the park, hence the turnout you see here.
One of the two “new” coasters is one that had people die on it. They simply moved it from
the now closed La Feria de Chapultepec amusement park. Quimera was the name of the ride. Derailed and killed two. How disrespectful of Indiana Beach.
No, that was an incorrect statement. It is an open and running theme park.
You apparently don’t understand the history of INDIANA BEACH. It is not JUST an amusement park. It has existed in my home town for almost 100 yrs. Back in the day, We saw Janis Joplin, Frank Zappa, The Beach Boys, and even Glenn Miller perform at the Roof Garden. There is so much history at IB. My 82 yr old mama went there as a child. It is not Just an amusement park. For those of us who grew up in Monticello, IB was often our first job, our first group outing, and our first dates. Sometimes you would just go to the beach to hang out, meet up with friends, play skeeball, and loiter under the Roof to listen to the bands. I have been to Kings Island, Six Flags , Williamsburg Busch Gardens and a few other parks. None have the home town laid back feeling like IB. WE almost lost our beloved park a couple of years ago. But a man with memories from his own childhood saved our IB. It’s not just a park. It’s part of my hometown history, and some of my best memories. So, yes, there is a way that IB could get that many votes in that amount of time, Trust me, we love our home town, and it would not be what it is without IB.
I can totally respect this we feel the same for BGT before it was part of the big brand it is now . 100 years is fantastic I love small town history. Kennywood outside of Mt dada hometown is the same feeling . Cheers to y’all .
IB and IB fans are very active on social media. BGT was the one that cheated.
Funny I.b fanboys are saying this page is cheating to get bg the win 😂
Sorry but I don’t like this recording of IPs. My household is a family of 4 and we only got to vote once. Very unfair to big households.
Exactly! We’re a family of 4 and now it’s only my mom’s vote that got counted for all four of us? Idk just seems too strict but it is the new rules. Glad this did not come out when I was at school because there would have been a fight to see who got to vote out of all the people there that have been voting.
Indiana beach has 600 people in their group while BGT has over 25K. You’re saying that’s not cheating. There’s no “fan base” for them. they’re simply cheating and should be disqualified. Unfair to the other parks that are actually here to try.
IB page has 108k people on it. There are problems with this poll I tried to go for the first time today and it said my vote was already counted. Seems rigged to me
IB is special, thats why we have votes coming in by the barrel full…. if you have been there then you know. ( bith parks in indiana are… we love you too Holiday World)
Indeed, Matt!!!!
Honestly, I understand why you are taking IP addresses but, my mom voted on her phone now I can’t vote on my laptop. I have tried but it says “Thank you, we have already counted your vote.” I didn’t even get to vote yet. I was really looking forward to my vote being counted and no more crazy things happening. Oh well, just time to wait it out and see who wins Wednesday.
use your mom’s phone at mcdonalds or some other wifi to vote yourself.
We are 25000+ strong BGT group , I mean glad you’re trying to make it fair as no way IB beat out SWO in the 2nd round as SWO has about the same 25000 as BGT …
Indiana Beach may only have 600 people in their group but they have over 110,000 people following their facebook page and they are putting the contest on their facebook page. There is a big following for our park.
Looks like Coasters 101 is doing the best they can considering the limited time they had to deal with this next year will be better I’m sure. IB didn’t cheat a few people did! Just look at this years bracket compared to years past. Does anyone really think Six Flags Darion Lake is the favorite of more people than Cedar Point. Not to get all nerdy but one or two people with a VPN and a script could be the cause of all of this. It feels more like there is someone(s) who is anti large parks not IB fanboys. Now that being said if Silver Dollar City doesn’t win I’m calling shenanigans 😉
Not only is IB marketing this all over social media but so are their more than 100,000 followers on facebook. I’ve sent the voting out to all my friends and I know they have voted for IB. There is no need for IB to cheat. 48,464 people checked in to their facebook page which definitely gets them the votes.
I vote for Indiana Beach because it’s the fun!! I don’t even live there anymore but I think they deserve this!!! I vote every time!
Same here, its been 20 years since i last went to IB, but my mom went there as a kid, as well as my grand mother. I hope to take my kids some day. I follow a lot of cedar fair parks on fb, as well as IB and cedar point, carowinds, kings island, and kings dominion never once posted anything about this contest. IB posted each voting session, each result, and kept the hype up. As far as i am concerned IB put the effort to make sure fans knew about this poll.
Soooo much butt hurt. Lmfao. IB has 600 people in what group? Y’all must live under a rock! And sorry not sorry, it was BG that was caught with their hand in the cookie jar cheating. IB is the clear cut winner here.
Where was it said that BG was cheating? That’s funny.
I’ve been an Indiana Beach fan since I was a little girl…. There are so many of us pulling for our little hometown amusement park to win the grand prize! Thank you for this contest and opportunity…. Such a neat idea!
I grew up in Monticello, so I spent a lot of time at Indiana Beach. I have many great memories from there. Even though we moved away many years ago, we have raised our kids with trips to Indiana Beach almost every summer (except during the pandemic) since they were small. We are in Texas now, but we still visit Indiana Beach when we go home to visit family. It’s a very special and unique place and a huge part of the community’s identity, and it holds many memories for a lot of people.
I thing it is lindana beach I love it there some of us get in the big parks way to much money I like it there and the food is good
600 in a group… umm…so I voted for other parks, but I don’t belong to their group (what ever that means). IB gets support from all Midwest. When you cry, Florida,,, it makes you look guilty.
INDIANA BEACH FOR THE WIN DORKS! GO SUCK ON A LEMON.
They hate us cuz they aint us🤷 #IndianaBeach
Well, I am part of IB Nation and that is who I am voting for too, no matter who gets mad at me. After 4 generations of family memories, that’s my family’s park of choice and always will be. So go take your ” my park is better than your park,” childish drama elsewhere, and stop griping that we should be disqualified for supporting our park. How childish.
IB Nation Assemble! Its honestly one my favorite parks, I always have a great time there.
I never do on-line polls but I’ve done this one and told my family to do it, too. Indiana Beach has a special place in our family’s story. My mom was part of the ski show back in the 60s. My kids and I go feed the carp and play skee ball (in the air conditioned arcade) every time we visit in the summer. It’s so old skool and so great. I grew up in Cincinnati going to Kings Island. The coasters were amazing but the atmosphere? It didn’t even come close.
In addition to Indiana Beach’s huge social following, the local and state media has ran stories on it, in their papers and on the news. So there is a lot of interest from the cornfields of Indiana in this poll.
Exactly, this is on everyone’s radar in the Midwest, while Florida people are too busy enjoying their new coasters to even know about the voting.
Cheating? Nah we hold this place IB near and dear to our hearts. I am 3rd generation currently on the lake, just like when my grandparents started coming here. There’s nothing like getting a mess of tacos and watching the ski show on your boat. Or loading your boat and going to IB and spent the evening.
Well 100 votes coming from a single Ip address is definitely an indication of cheating. IB has the only Dreier Looping coaster in the Americas, has one of the last running Jet Stars. IB definitely has a great fan base especially considering it was almost killed by Apex. While IB is a great place to get rare coaster credits and is very family friendly it’s not a destination park or on the level of most of the parks that didn’t make it past the second round. IB did not cheat, nor did most of their fans, just a few people took advantage of coaster101’s trusting nature and lack of counter measures to break the contest. Next year will be better.
