Super Nintendo World Officially Announced for Universal Studios Hollywood

After many years of speculation, rumors, and eventual construction at Universal Studios Hollywood, the theme park community has been highly anticipating the arrival of Super Nintendo World. After a successful opening at Universal Studios Japan in 2021, we got a good look at what the land could actually look like, and now we have an official announcement for Mario and friends to make their US theme park debut. Universal Studios Hollywood has officially announced that Super Nintendo World will open in 2023.

“The immersive land will be a visual spectacle of vibrant colors and architectural ingenuity located within a newly expanded area of the theme park, featuring a groundbreaking ride and interactive areas, to be enjoyed by the whole family,” the park stated in a press release sent out this morning. They added, “Themed shopping and dining will enhance the entire experience.”

One of those shopping experiences is coming sooner than you may think, because in addition to announcing an opening year for the land, the park also revealed that their Feature Presentation gift shop will receive a Super Nintendo takeover.

Fans won’t have to wait long, because the store will be “opening soon” at the popular shopping location near the front entrance of the park. The store will offer plush characters, themed apparel, iconic character hats and more.

While the park did not provide any details about the attractions or shopping and dining experiences within the land itself, more information and details will be shared soon ahead of next year’s opening.
