California’s Great America made a surprise announcement that a new ride is opening this Spring. No, it’s not a surprise coaster, but Liberty Twirler, a new scrambler ride for the park will open in May. The park has a surprising lack of spinny flat rides, so this is actually a pretty nice addition for families.
Liberty Twirler, a new flat ride, is coming to California’s Great America this Spring!
Liberty Twirler will open in the All Amercan Corners section of the park between Orleans Place and South Bay Shores. From the rendering it looks like it will take the spot where FireFall, the Top-Spin ride removed in 2016, used to sit. The whole area will be getting some upgrades and enhancements. That makes sense, with the most recent areas to get refreshed being on either side of it. The park seems to be steadily upgrading each area one at a time.
Along with the new ride, the park also announced this years entertainment schedule. The newest event is Carnivale at Orleans Place, running from July 20 to August 7. This is an upgraded version of the Taste of Orleans festival, including a new parade.
“At California’s Great America, we strive to provide season-long entertainment for our guests through a variety of experiences,” said Barb Granter, general manager. “Between our exciting lineup of both new and expanding events, the addition of Liberty Twirler and other upgrades in All-American Corners, and everything our guests love about South Bay Shores waterpark, there’s something for everyone, every day of the season.”
Other events include Red White & Brews from May 27 to July 19, Tricks and Treats (a new, not scary, Halloween event) from September 23 to October 30, and WinterFest from November 25 to January 1. For more info on all of them check out the Great America events page.
