Iron Gwazi Opening Date Announced

The wait is finally over. In just 49 days from today, one of our most anticipated roller coasters of the past three years is finally ready to take on riders. Busch Gardens Tampa has announced the Iron Gwazi opening date: North America’s tallest and the fastest and steepest hybrid coaster in the world will officially open to the public on March 11. Pass Members can enjoy early access on Iron Gwazi with exclusive preview ride times, starting February 13.

Iron Gwazi, designed and built by Rocky Mountain Construction, takes thrills to new heights, plunging riders from a 206 foot-tall peak into a 91-degree drop and reaching top speeds of 76 miles per hour. Riders on Iron Gwazi will experience a dozen airtime moments along 4,000 feet of track, including three inversions, as they sink their teeth into crocodile-inspired thrills.

Iron Gwazi is a hybrid roller coaster, meaning it uses an ultra smooth, all steel track but the majority of the structure is wooden supports, some leftover from the former Gwazi dueling wooden coaster. Prepare for your ride by watching the Iron Gwazi POV below.

That wasn’t the only SeaWorld Parks news to drop this week. SeaWorld Orlando released the official POV for their own new coaster, Ice Breaker, opening to the public on February 18th.
