Rocky Mountain Construction Unveils “Family Hybrid” Coaster

Have you ever taken a look at a roller coaster built by Rocky Mountain Construction, and a “Roller Coaster Tycoon”-esque thought bubble popped into your head along the lines of ‘Hybrid Coaster 1 looks too intense for me!’ ? RMC has unveiled a new coaster model certain to thrill not only die-hard coaster enthusiasts, but also those looking for slightly milder thrills: The “Family Hybrid” Coaster.

RMC began its journey into the amusement industry through traditional wooden roller coaster installation.  In an effort to improve the ride experience, RMC developed the patented Ibox track system.  These rides have been thrilling park goers across the world for over a decade.  However, these rides may be too thrilling for some guests. Family coaster passengers will enjoy the smooth ride of the Ibox track system while experiencing family friendly elements.

RMC currently offers three standard layouts with different elements and footprints to best fit the available real estate. There is also the ability for their clients to develop a custom layout to better fit the needs of their respective park.

The family hybrid coaster utilizes the same state of the art Ibox track technology as RMC’s award-winning hybrid coasters, but with a more modest ride layout.  This allows park guests to enjoy a smooth ride as a family with a thrill level more suitable for those who are may be too short, or just not ready to ride an extreme RMC hybrid roller coaster.

As with many other RMC projects, Family Hybrid coasters are all designed and manufactured by RMC at their facility in Hayden, ID.

While no RMC Family Hybrid Coasters have been announced as of yet, we want to know. Where do you see the first Family Hybrid coaster opening? What about a potential RMC Conversion of an existing family coaster? Let us know in the comments below!
