Give Kids The World Announces Reopening Date

After closing their gates in the early stages of the COVID-19 on March 18, and continuing to remain closed while weathering the storm of the pandemic, Give Kids The World has announced their re-opening date to resume wish granting!

On their Facebook page earlier today, it was announced that Give Kids The World would resume granting wishes on Sunday, January 17, 2021!

The Village consulted with experts at the Nemours Children’s Hospital in Orlando, as well as their colleagues at some of Central Florida’s well-known theme parks to develop a plan in order to re-open and operate the Village in the safest manor possible.

“We are beyond excited to announce that we will be getting back to our mission of creating the happiness that inspires hope for critically ill children and their families by reopening Give Kids The World Village beginning on January 17, 2021,” the Village wrote.

“With safety as our number one priority, we will be opening very slowly – beginning with a limited number of families, seasonal staff and volunteers, and gradually growing our numbers over time. Thank you to our wonderful theme park partners – Walt Disney World Resort, Universal Orlando Resort and SeaWorld Orlando; Nemours Children’s Hospital; and everyone who has helped to make it possible for us to continue our 34-year legacy of transforming lives one precious moment at a time!”
Each month that Give Kids The World was closed, seven hundred wishes were postponed (on top of “new” wishes), and they need our help more than ever. At Coaster101, we recently made a $1,700 donation to Give Kids The World through the sales of our 2021 Roller Coaster. Back in August, we chatted with Give Kids The World’s CEO Pamela Landwirth and Senior Director of Advancement, Steven Amos, about how the Village was  handling the COVID closure and ways to get involved on the Coaster101 Podcast. Check out that episode by clicking here!
