Attraction Awards 2020: Nominate Your Favorite Coasters and Parks

Welcome to another installment of our annual Attraction Awards! This unscientific polling celebrates the best of roller coasters, attractions and the amusement industry with both traditional and less-traditional categories selected to highlight these fan favorites.

The year 2020 has no doubt been one of the most trying for the amusement industry. But through the bleakness and uncertainty were bright spots and an unyielding resilience worth recognizing. Therefore, this year we’ve included two categories that showcase that perseverance and optimism from amusement and theme parks in 2020: the “Helping Hand Award” and the “Best Park Twitter During the Shutdown.” See below for more information about each of those.

UPDATE: See the winners of the 2020 Attraction Awards here!

Other categories this year include “Best New-for-2020” and “Most Anticipated for 2021” coasters as well as “Best Attraction Logo” and “Best Tunnel on a Coaster.”

The nomination period will run Monday, Nov. 30 through Monday, Dec. 7, 2020, at 11:59 p.m. ET. Voting will begin soon thereafter.

Nomination Notes and Rules

  • Only one nomination per category per person
  • For roller coaster-related categories, please include the coaster name and park
  • For the Twitter category, please include the park’s Twitter handle/username or URL
  • For the coaster tunnel category, please be as specific as possible (especially if the coaster has more than one tunnel)
  • Coaster101 reserves the right to add nominations to the final lineup.
  • Unfortunately, not every nomination received will be on the final ballot — space is limited.
  • Each category will have a winner and an honorable mention.

Nominate your favorites using the form below the categories.

1. Best New-for-2020 Coaster

While the number of new-for-2020 coasters may be smaller than initially anticipated, there were still some stellar additions to the coaster collection both in the US and overseas. Which do you think stood above the rest (figuratively speaking, of course).

2. Most Anticipated 2021 Coaster

Which new-for-2021 coaster are you most excited to ride? These can include coasters that were originally planned to open in 2020 before being delayed due to the pandemic.

3. Helping Hand Award

This award highlights parks’ supporting and giving back to their respective communities during the pandemic. These included food drives, fundraisers and other initiatives to support those most affected by the pandemic.

Note: Please provide as much detail as possible when nominating. Feel free to link to another website with additional information.

4. Best Park Twitter During the Shutdown

While virtually every park across the globe was shut down in the spring and early summer of 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, many parks took to Twitter to engage fans in very creative ways. These marketers and social media gurus worked tirelessly to keep fans talking with games, contests, construction updates, etc. Which park do you think did the best job?

Note: Please include the park’s Twitter handle or URL in your nomination.

5. Best Attraction Logo

An attraction’s logo can be just as recognizable as the attraction itself. You see it on merchandise, entrance signs, ride vehicles — the list goes on. Which attraction (not limited to roller coasters) do you think has the best logo design?

6. Best Tunnel on a Coaster

Tunnels can add a special something to a roller coaster ride — a “head-chopper” moment, a disorienting maneuver in complete darkness or even just a reprieve from the heat. Which coaster tunnel is your favorite?

Note: Please be specific when nominating, especially if the coaster has more than one tunnel.
