If you’ve been reading Coaster101 for any period of time, you know that we are big supporters of Give Kids The World. Located just beyond the gates of Orlando’s theme parks, Give Kids The World is an 84-acre, nonprofit resort that provides week-long, cost-free vacations to children with critical illnesses and their families.
Unfortunately, like the rest of the world, GKTW were not spared when dealing with the ripple effects of COVID-19. In June, the Village announced an extended temporary closure and staff furloughs due to the ongoing pandemic, and needs the support of donations more than ever so that when they do reopen, they can be ready to grant wishes for these children and their families.
This year was supposed to be the largest ever “Coasting For Kids” event in Give Kids The World’s history, with events scheduled at nearly 20 parks across the United States. However, with the current ongoing park closures and changes to operating procedures, the overall event has had to downsize. That all being said, there IS some good news to report. “Coasting For Kids” is indeed happening at at least 5 parks in 2020, and participating in an event at your local park is a fantastic way to support Give Kids The World!
Coasting For Kids will take place at the following parks on the respective dates.
August 29
- Holiday World (in conjunction with HoliWood Nights)
- Kennywood
- Lake Compounce
- Six Flags Fiesta Texas
September 27
- Kentucky Kingdom (the last day of their operating season)
Click any of the links to register for an event at that park. This park list could grow by a couple if several yet-to-reopen parks are able to participate.
Participating in Coasting For Kids is simple! Start by selecting your preferred park and creating a personal fundraising page, raise at least $100 for Give Kids The World by sharing your page on social media, and then you’ll be able to have a day at the park while supporting a fantastic cause at the same time! You’ll get a t-shirt and some ERT at many of the parks as well!
