Adventureland Announces Dragon Slayer 4D Free Spin for 2021

Adventureland today announced plans to open Dragon Slayer, a 4D Free Spin coaster, in 2021.

The Iowa park unveiled their plans via a Facebook post:

While the park did not release specific details about Dragon Slayer, from the video included in the post, the coaster is very obviously an S&S 4D Free Spin coaster — likely the “110” model which has been installed at seven Six Flags parks across North America.

According to the S&S website, the 4D Free Spin coaster “utilizes magnetic technology to induce and control spinning” across “three layers of vertically stacked track (that) feature speed bumps and two beyond vertical raven drops.”

S&S 4D Free Spin 110 Layout

Dragon Slayer will likely be a 110 model of S&S’ 4D Free Spin with the following specs:

  • Track length: 1,016 feet
  • Height: 109 feet
  • Max speed: 38 mph
  • Mag G-force: 2.8
  • Number of vehicles: 5
  • Riders per vehicle: 8
  • Capacity: 720 people per hour
  • Ride time: 50 seconds

Parks can make adjustments to control how often each of the coaster’s vehicles flips. The layout diagram below highlights the locations where cars have the potential to flip:

Dragon Slayer is replacing the park’s Dragon roller coaster, which it began removing earlier this year.

The park began teasing a “dragon slayer” character on social media, leading many to correctly guess the new coaster’s name.
