Worlds of Fun Reopening June 22

The first Cedar Fair Amusement Park to open post-COVID 19? None other than Kansas City’s Worlds of Fun. The park will initially open to Season Passholders exclusively, with daily ticket sales to begin in early July.  Reservations will be required for all guests.

“The safety of our guests and ambassadors has always been and will always be our top priority, and we want them to feel confident that they can enjoy our park in a manner that’s both safe and fun,” said Tony Carovillano, vice president and general manager at Worlds of Fun. “Our new health and safety protocols align with CDC recommendations and have been shaped by information from company and industry health and safety experts, along with our state and local government officials. We are ready to welcome our guests back for some family fun.”

“We want you to have an AMAZING day at Worlds of Fun and feel safe when visiting, so we developed an extensive coronavirus reopening plan – new processes and enhanced procedures throughout the park to help reduce the spread of germs,” the park stated on their website. “We’re all in this together and by working together you can safely and confidently enjoy the thrills, giggles, and endless smiles that only Worlds of Fun can deliver.”

Like multiple parks in our post-pandemic world, Worlds of Fun will have some new policies in place before you’re able to enter the park.

  • Scheduling Your Visit

All guests must schedule their visit in advance through the Worlds of Fun website or mobile app before coming to the park.

  • Mobile App Required & Location Services Enhanced

At least one member of your group must have the park mobile app on their phone. Worlds of Fun will temporarily eliminate the paper maps, and the mobile app can be used for contactless payment as well. The use of Location Services feature in the park app allows us to send you real-time updates. Read more about Cedar Fair’s technology improvements here.

  • Masks Required

All guests and associates will be required to wear masks while in the park.

  • Health Screenings

Health screenings and temperature checks will be required for all guests and associates. In addition to the Temperature Check required at many parks, there will also be a Health Screening to complete on the app. On the day of your visit, open the mobile app and complete the Health Assessment Questionnaire. Only one questionnaire is required per group. Your responses will be cleared each night, so this must be completed each time you come to the park.

In addition, the park will also feature:

  • Social distancing markers throughout the park, including ride queue lines.
  • Limited guest/ambassador contact.
  • Enhanced cleaning procedures, including additional deep cleaning and sanitization of restrooms, dining facilities and other busy areas;
  • Capacity management throughout the park.
  • Hand Sanitation Stations have been installed throughout the park.

The park also included a video detailing the opening procedures, and a very nifty FAQ on the park’s website.

Employment opportunities are currently available throughout the park, and a virtual hiring process has been deployed so applicants can apply and interview remotely. Openings can be found at worldsoffun.com/hiring. Worlds of Fun has a blog on their website detailing the hiring process.

We couldn’t be more excited to open and welcome guests back into the park for some summer fun,” said Chris Foshee, Communications Manager for Worlds of Fun. “The support from our guests and beloved coaster enthusiasts has been incredible to see, but keep those virtual hugs coming and visit a park. The industry needs you.”
