Frankie’s Fun Park – Charlotte’s Newest Family Entertainment Center

Planning a 2020 trip to Carowinds? Previously we shared a construction update on the Wilderness Run Alpine Coaster located in Banner Elk. Today we’re going to look at another fun attraction in the Charlotte area that you may want to visit: Frankie’s Fun Park.

Frankie’s is a brand new entertainment center located on the northside of Charlotte. It opened earlier in 2019 as the fifth location in the Carolinas-based chain.

The center has a great selection of attractions including three 18-hole miniature golf courses, three go-kart tracks, rides, a Triotech motion theater, fun house, bowling alley, and arcade. There is no shortage of things to do here.

You’ll have a hard time choosing which mini golf course to try – all three are themed around a pirate village, with highly detailed lighthouses, shacks, boats, and palm trees all around. The quality of the courses is what surprised us the most. All of the holes were well thought out and challenging; even the edges of the holes were smooth and bounced true.

Frankies is the latest chain of family entertainment centers popping up across the country, like Malibu Jack’s and Scene75. Out of those three, Frankies had the most amusement park style rides: an indoor drop tower, swings, tea cups, and a disk’o. The biggest letdown was they don’t have any roller coasters (yet). But they certainly have room for one.

I’d love to see one of these family entertainment centers get a more thrilling roller coaster, rather than the same old SBF spinner. Granted, those are good family friendly (and cheap) rides. But as more FECs pop up they’re going to need something to compete and differentiate themselves. Something from Skyline’s products. or an RMC single rail.

Have you been to a Frankies yet or other family entertainment center? Would you like to see this trend continue?
