Coasting For Kids Raises More Than $130,000 For Give Kids The World

Back in March, Give Kids The World announced the return of “Coasting For Kids,” a fundraising program where people visit amusement parks around the country for a “fun day” at the park, while raising money for a great cause. The program returned in a BIG way.

Across the 15 events taking place between the first event of the season at Busch Gardens Williamsburg on March 23 and final event of the season at Kennywood Park over Labor Day weekend, Give Kids The World was able to raise more than $130,000 through Coasting for Kids.

Over 1,000 park attendees raised money for Give Kids The World and in exchange received Coasting for Kids day admission to one of 15 theme parks, cost-free. Each participant raised at least $100 in order to take part in the event, which included exclusive ride time on coasters like Kennywood’s brand new roller coaster, Steel Curtain.

Participating Parks in 2019 included:

  • Busch Gardens Williamsburg – Williamsburg, VA
  • Frontier City (Six Flags) – Oklahoma City, OK
  • Indiana Beach – Monticello, IN
  • Kennywood – West Mifflin, PA
  • LEGOLAND Florida – Winter Haven, FL
  • Quassy Amusement Park – Middlebury, CT
  • Sesame Place – Langhorne, PA
  • Silverwood – Athol, ID
  • Six Flags America – Upper Marlboro, MD
  • Six Flags Darien Lake – Darien Center, NY
  • Six Flags Fiesta Texas – San Antonio, TX
  • Six Flags Over Georgia – Austell, GA
  • Six Flags Great Escape Lodge – Queensbury, NY
  • Six Flags Over Texas – Arlington, TX
  • Story Land – Glen, NH

“Whether they took part for the thrills or for a day with family and friends, the magnitude of each individual’s donation is amazing,” said Steven Amos, Give Kids The World Village Director of Development. “Communities all over the country came together to help us fulfill almost 18 life-changing wishes.”

Communities rallying in support is entirely fitting, as families who benefit from Give Kids The World travel from all 50 states and 75 countries for a weeklong wish vacation to enjoy the Central Florida theme parks, completely cost free.

“Bringing Give Kids The World to the communities where our families live is an important part of continuing to create hope for families facing critical illness,” said Jessica Mueller, Give Kids The World spokesperson. “We can’t wait for the 2020 season.”

Give Kids The World Village is a 84-acre, nonprofit “storybook” resort in Central Florida. Children with life-threatening illnesses and their families are treated to week-long, cost-free vacations, complete with accommodations, donated attraction tickets, meals and more. Since 1986, Give Kids The World Village has welcomed more than 167,000 families from all 50 states and 76 countries. For more information on their mission, visit www.gktw.org.
