Knott’s Announces Scary Farm Mazes and…Muppets?

Knott’s Berry Farm announced their new mazes for this years Knott’s Scary Farm event at the park. They also announced a new nightly show during Scary Farm, Puppet Up! Uncensored from the Jim Henson company!

Knott’s Scary Farm new for 2019 Mazes

The first of the new mazes announced is Wax Works. According to the park, the background of the maze is that “mysterious lights have been seen in the abandoned wax museum. The once prominent plastic surgeon, Dr. Augustus Scratch, has been seen tinkering at night and is now ready to show off his beautiful yet terrifying life-like masterpieces of hot molten wax and bloody flesh. Take a closer look at his gruesome works of art and try to escape his deadly grip or become the newest masterpiece in his collection.” Frankly, just the abandoned wax museum part sounds scary enough for me.

The second maze is Origins: The Curse of Calico. In this maze, the story is that guests “unearth the sinister paranormal activity that plagues (Ghost Town) as Sarah Marshall is put on trial for her suspected crimes of witchcraft.” I like the idea of tying the maze into Ghost Town and the “history” of Calico.

Puppet Up! Uncensored Comes to Scary Farm for 2019

I saw Puppet Up! a few years ago on stage, and thought it was fantastic. If you’re a Muppet fan and/or an improv fan, this might be enough reason to go to Scary Farm on its own.

The other big new addition this year is nightly performances of Puppet Up! Uncensored. Puppet Up! Uncensored is an improv comedy show created by Brian Henson, son of Muppets creator Jim Henson. Additionally, the muppet performers are all puppeteers from the Henson company, so these are real high quality muppets. As you can guess from the title, the show is generally for adults, and is driven by audience suggestions and interaction. I actually saw Puppet Up! Uncensored on stage a few years ago, and loved it, so I’m excited about this addition. The show will be performed three times each night of Scary Farm.

Returning Mazes, Scare Zones, and Shows

In addition to the new mazes and Puppet Up, a bunch of returning favorites come back this year. This years scare zones are Ghost Town Streets, CARNEVIL, The Hollow, and Forsaken Lake. In Ghost Town Streets bands of half-human, half-animal monsters prowl the streets and inhabit the fog.  On the Boardwalk, deviant clowns crave your undying attention in the CARNEVIL scare zone. The Hollow scare zone will terrorize guests as the Witches of the Hollow along with their armies of creatures have risen once again to battle with the Witch Hunter.  Finally, the Lake underneath Silver Bullet recedes to reveal the Forsaken Lake scare zone, where gothic creatures ravaged by the dark and murky waters wander from their crypts preying on unsuspecting visitors.

Returning mazes include Special Ops: Infected, Shadow Lands, PARANORMAL, INC., Pumpkin Eater, Dark Ride, The Depths, and Dark Entities. In addition to the returning mazes, there are several returning shows. First is The Hanging, Knott’s Scary Farm’s annual live stage show that looks back at the year’s pop culture with some killer comedy, known for its special effects and high-flying stunts. Then there’s CONJURERS– Magic and Mirth in the Birdcage Theatre, with magicians Chipper Lowell and Dana Daniels front and center as they perform on select nights. Lastly, AWAKEN THE DEAD, DJ dance party has taken in Fiesta Village.

One of the old favorites, Special Ops is back this year.

Timber Mountain Log Ride Overlay

The last returning attraction is the seasonal overlay for the Timber Mountain Log Ride, Halloween Hootenanny. Mysterious creatures of Timber Mountain that live out in the woods and caverns join the citizens as they honor the season at the Halloween Hootenanny. The ride’s interior features unexpected surprises. You’ll venture past the Calico Coffin Creeper band, the town’s green witch, and splash down Skull Mountain. Check out the video from SoCal Attractions 360 for the version from a few years ago if you don’t mind it being spoiled.

Knott’s Scary Farm starts on September 19 and runs on select dates through November 2nd. For more info on dates, hours, and tickets, check out the Knott’s Scary Farm website.
