Tsunami Surge, World’s Tallest Water Coaster, Arriving at Six Flags Great America in 2020

Following the introduction of Maxx Force, which set the record for fastest inversion on any roller coaster in the world, in 2019, Six Flags Great America has followed it up with another record-breaker in 2020: Tsunami Surge, the tallest water coaster in the world.

Curious how tall a water coaster needs to be in order to break that record? 86 feet!

Sliders will reach a top speed of 28 miles per hour over 950 feet of enclosed tunnels and open air slides featuring three gravity-defying blasts and five breathtaking drops, along with five hairpin turns. Mind-blowing bursts of color with AquaLucent visual effects will only intensify the ride experience.

Tsunami Surge will be manufactured by WhiteWater West. The animation video depicts the three “launches” of Tsunami Surge to be propelled by water jets, rather than LIM launches that exists in other pre-existing water coasters.
The new water coaster will open in the Riptide Bay section of Hurricane Harbor in the summer of 2020.
