Sneak Peak Inside Scene75 Columbus – Largest Entertainment Center in the US

At 220,000 square feet, Scene75 Columbus will be the largest entertainment center in the US when it opens later this year. Over twenty exciting attractions will be taking over space formerly occupied by a two-story Macy’s department store at Tuttle Mall in Dublin, Ohio. Coaster101 was graciously invited to get a sneak peek inside at the status of the massive overhaul. Here’s a rundown of what we saw inside Scene75 Columbus.

Nuclear Rush Roller Coaster

Our tour started by going in the East entrance on the second floor, leading us directly to what coaster enthusiasts will be interested in most: the Nuclear Rush Roller Coaster. This is an SBF Spinner coaster and if you haven’t been on one, they are a blast! This one has been completely customized for Scene75 as well; the trains, color scheme, lighting, and signage are unique to this ride.

Guests must be 48″ tall to ride solo or 36″ if accompanied by an adult. Tickets are expected to be $5 per rider.

Laser Maze

Our second stop was at one of two laser mazes at the center. This one has a bank vault theme, while the other is a Gold Mine. I was very impressed with how well the lasers worked, they were precise and super visible with the sleight haze in the room.

We were lucky enough that this attraction was mostly complete and we got to give it a go! It felt like you were in a heist movie and is a lot harder than you think (and we were only on the medium level). You are time tracked, but if you hit a laser, you are penalized by your time jumping up. After you escape the room, you can enter your name for the leaderboards and even send yourself an email with the video of your attempt!

Laser Tag

While we are on lasers, let’s talk about the incredible laser tag arena Scene75 has. I was blown away walking into this attraction. You first come into a space where you will receive your state-of-the-art laser guns and vests, then move into a themed briefing room. After that, you will be greeted by a huge Jurassic-park style gate that will swing open underneath a wall of smoke as you enter the huge arena. How cool does that sound?!

You and 49 of your friends will be able to break into three teams in this space, each team having its own base. There are dozens of obstacles and tunnels, including a second floor catwalk-like level! We can’t wait to go back and try this out! Read all the way to the bottom for a giveaway related to this.

Illusions Restaurant & Bar

Right next to the laser attractions, sits the Illusions Restaurant & Bar and it is well on its way to being a dining experience you’d expect to see at Disney. It is a bar & grill model restaurant but with a twist. The two-sided bar will be themed “fire & ice.” The side inside the restaurant will be “ice” and features a iridescent hand-poured resin bar top that will glow under hidden black lights. The other side actually sits along the outside of the restaurant and will allow walk ups from the midway. This bar top features the “fire” side and has a bar length fire wall of smoke (mist) that comes up from inside the table. Added lights under the top will illuminate any drinks slid over top!

Behind the bar is the sit-down section of the restaurant and will have special lighting, televisions, and infinity mirrors (not to mention a life size Houdini trying to wiggle free in the ceiling).

Along one wall in the dining room there is a large bookcase. But is it just a bookcase? Hidden behind a secret set of doors lies the hidden gem of this restaurant, a special dining experience you will have to reserve in advance. Inside there is only room for a few tables, but once inside, the doors close and you will be treated to a show during your meal. We weren’t let in on all of the effects, but were told that there will be projections on each table throughout the whole meal with other illusions making appearances.

Arcade Games

Each floor at Scene75 will feature multiple sections of the newest arcade games available.

There are the classics: skeeball, air hockey, basketball, coin pushers, etc, but there are so many games that we hadn’t even seen before that we can’t wait to try!

Go-Karts

We couldn’t believe the size of the go-kart track that they fit onto the second floor of the facility! It even rivals some outdoor tracks we’ve seen.

The brand new electric go-karts will go 14 mph and there will be both individual karts and double karts for families.

Bounce Inflatapark

We both have young kids so we’re inevitably going to be spending a lot of time watching them bounce around this giant inflatable.

Spin Zone Bumper Cars

Classic bumper cars with a twist: they’re equipped with sensors that send you spinning when you get bumped.

Blacklight Mini Golf

One of the things we were most excited about (besides the coaster, of course) was the mini golf! Scene75 has two, blacklight nine-hole mini golf courses, each with their own elaborate theme.

Each course will have highly detailed blacklight murals on the walls and custom theming on each hole! Remember to watch out for the shark as he swims by you!

Drop Tower

The drop tower ride hardware hadn’t been delivered yet but we saw the giant hole in the floor where the tower is going to be located. We were told you will be raised from the first floor thirty-five feet up through the second floor not just once or twice, but eleven times total! (I believe Moser is the maker of the drop tower but I’m not completely sure).

XD Dark Ride

More and more of these TrioTech Dark Ride Theaters are popping up, and for good reason: they’re amazing! When we rode one a couple years back, we were overly impressed with the attention to detail in the video and amount a force you feel in the chairs.

Archery Tag

Another thing we’ve been seeing a lot of, but haven’t go to try yet, is Archery Tag! Scene75 is going to have not one, not two, but three Archery Tag arenas for you to try out! There will be a smaller, medieval style area, a larger arena with inflatable obstacles, and one with shooting gallery style targets for you to hit!

Karaoke Booth

While neither of us are big karaoke fans, we have to admit that the karaoke booth at Scene75 will be a hit for those who are. The booth is large enough for you and a group of friends to enter and select a song together. A green screen on the back wall will turn your song into a music video that you can then email to yourself and share on social media!

Homerun Zone

Last but not least, we have the Homerun Zone. Only one of a few of its kind, this batting cage attraction will allow guests to rent out a bay (sort of TopGolf style) and challenge their friends to a homer battle! But watch out, your friends can choose what pitch you get! This is bound to be a “hit!”

And that’s not all. There are even more attractions we haven’t listed here. We didn’t even touch on any of the party rooms. We’re really excited for the opening of Scene75 Columbus. The sheer number of things to do combined with the attention to detail is going to be a combination that will have guests wanting to visit again and again.
