Rise of the Resistance Opening Dates Announced

The Disney Parks Blog today announced the opening dates for the Rise of the Resistance rides at the “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge” lands. The gigantic new ride, which will include multiple sections with different ride vehicles, will open on December 5 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida.

The Disneyland version of the ride won’t open until January 17, a full six months after the land opened in Southern California. Seems a little odd to have the version at DLR open later than the Florida version since the Phase 1 part of the land opened so much earlier, but as we all know things in California tend to go more slowly.

When it opens the ride will  land guests in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance. It will start with an attempted mission in a transport, followed by getting captured by the First Order. An encounter with Kylo Ren and First Order officers and Stormtroopers on the Star Destroyer then leads to prison break through a massive battle between the two sides. The excellent Brady MacDonald wrote an in-depth look at what we know about Rise of the Resistance for MiceChat just last week. I recommend checking it out for lots of details.

While you wait for Rise of the Resistance to open, the rest of Galaxy’s Edge is open for guests at Disneyland (check out our guest report from it), and the Florida Version opens in September. And for more on Rise of the Resistance check out the Disney Parks Blog.
