Six Flags Discovery Kingdom Has a New Lion Cub!

Yes yes, this isn’t coaster related, but it is theme park related, and it’s too adorable not to share. Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is now home to Cain, an eight-week-old male lion cub. Cain was born on May 6 at Six Flags Great Adventure before coming over to the West Coast.

“We are thrilled to have Cain join us as the newest member to the Six Flags Discovery Kingdom family,” said Animal Care Director, Dianne Cameron. “Expert caregivers will be providing him with around the clock care for the next few months. Cain’s mother, a first time mom, did not properly care for him and our veterinary team made the decision to intervene. He will eventually be introduced to our lionesses and become king of the pride! He will serve as a majestic and powerful ambassador for his species.”

You can visit Cain at the animal nursery from now until he joins the lionessses in the Lion’s lair habitat in the park.

Six Flags Discovery Kingdom (and all Six Flags parks) will also be hosting Coca-Cola July 4th Fest this weekend, with fireworks July 3-6, ERT with a coke can, and more. A good time to head to the park, ride some coasters, take a break with Cain, and then enjoy some fireworks.

Find out more details about July 4th Fest and about Discovery Kingdom’s newest resident on their official site. Alternately you can just watch that B-Roll of Cain over and over.
