Busch Gardens Williamsburg Begins Teasing 2020 Addition

VII. | XXX. | MMXIX.

The countdown is officially on!

Busch Gardens Williamsburg has given us the first tease of what’s coming to the park in 2020, or #MMXX, as the park is referring to it.

On their social media channels today, Busch Gardens Williamsburg posted a very brief teaser video with series of Roman Numerals, and the text “Escape Pluto’s twisted Underworld and be immortalized in the garden of the gods #MMXX”

In case you’ve forgotten your roman numerals, VII XXX MMXIX translates to 7 30 2019, or July 30, 2019. Which is presumably when we will learn about what the new attraction is.

A quick mythology lesson from Wikipedia: Pluto was the ruler of the underworld in classical mythology. The earlier name for the god was Hades, which became more common as the name of the underworld itself. In ancient Greek religion and mythology, Pluto represents a more positive concept of the god who presides over the afterlife.

As far as the “Garden of the Gods,” The Epic of Gilgamesh describes Gilgamesh travelling to a wondrous garden of the gods that is the source of a river, next to a mountain covered in cedars, and references a “plant of life”. In the myth, paradise is identified as the place where the deified Sumerian hero of the flood, Utnapishtim (Ziusudra), was taken by the gods to live forever. Once in the garden of the gods, Gilgamesh finds all sorts of precious stones, similar to Genesis 2:12.

Busch Gardens Williamsburg joins SeaWorld Orlando, Busch Gardens Tampa and SeaWorld San Diego as parks in the SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment Family who have announced new attractions for 2020. However, it appears that SeaWorld San Antonio has something up their sleeves as well for next year, but nothing has been announced or confirmed by the park at this time.

What do you think the new attraction at Busch Gardens Williamsburg will be? Let us know in the comments below!
