Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway Arriving at Disneyland in 2022

Disney announced today that Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway will be coming to Disneyland in 2022! The ride was originally announced for Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World back in 2017 at D23. That version is scheduled to open in Spring 2020 (it was originally set to open this year, but apparently is now delayed).

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway puts you into the world of an olde-timey Mickey Mouse short. You’ll board a train driven by goofy, and go on a “zany, out-of-control adventure filled with surprising twists and turns.” The ride will have an original story and theme song, and use some state-of-the-art technology to immerse you into the cartoon world.

Mickey & Minnie’s will be the first ride to feature Mickey Mouse in it at any park when it opens in Orlando next year, and it the Disneyland version will be the first at the West Coast park. Fittingly, the ride will open in Mickey’s Toontown when it comes to the park in 2022.

Update: The park initial reveal didn’t mention if Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway would be replacing anything, but a Disney representative has told Attractions Magazine that the new ride is going to be built in what is currently a backstage area and Toon Town would be expanded. So fear no, Roger Rabbit fans, that ride is safe!
