Dollywood is making final preparations to debut Glacier Ridge as part of its award-winning Smoky Mountain Christmas event, which kicks off this Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018.
Glacier Ridge will present Dollywood guests with a “frozen over” Smoky Mountain atmosphere featuring an arctic color scheme and wintry decor. At the center of Glacier Ridge, the new-for-2018 Plaza at Wilderness Pass will transform into a winter wonderland with a 50-foot-tall animated tree as the centerpiece. Every 30 minutes, guests will be treated to a fully-synchronized, dazzling light show with singalong holiday hits.
While the entire park is decorated for Smoky Mountain Christmas, Glacier Ridge is concentrated in the following areas of the park: Timber Canyon, Wilderness Pass and the upper portion of Craftsman’s Valley. The new area will increase the total count of lights around the park to five million — that’s an additional million from last year.
From the Timber Canyon section, guests will enter Glacier Ridge through the Arctic Passage — a 130-ft. long programmable light tunnel.
After exiting the Arctic Passage tunnel, guests will be greeted by illuminated polar bears near the water surrounding Drop Line, the new-for-2017 drop tower.

Guests entering Glacier Ridge through Craftsman’s Valley will experience a new light installation which is being referred to as Dollywood’s version of the northern lights brought to life by music.
In September, Dollywood earned its 11th consecutive Golden Ticket award for Best Theme Park Christmas Event. Dollywood has been the only park to win the award since the category was created in 2008. You can see our past coverage of Smoky Mountain Christmas here.
Glacier Ridge is only one part of Smoky Mountain Christmas, which features millions of lights, holiday-themed live entertainment, delicious food, kid-friendly activities and more.
