Legoland New York’s Eight Lands Unveiled

Legoland New York this week announced the eight lands that will comprise the 150-acre theme park when it opens in 2020 with 50 rides, shows and other attractions.

In true Lego fashion, the eight lands were announced at a ceremony that included a Lego-scale model of the park.

The model was made of more than 135,000 Lego bricks and took 20 builders more than 1,300 hours to design and build.

The eight themed lands of Legoland New York will include:

1. The Factory

The Factory area will welcome guests as they enter the theme park and will feature the Great Lego Adventure ride, an exclusive to the New York park. The attraction will let guests know what it’s like to be a Lego figurine as they “travel through the manufacturing process, into a box, and into the hands of a child just waiting to build.”

2. Bricktopia

The park refers to this as the “land with no rules” where the Lego bricks can build anything imaginable. Guests will build and test their wildest Lego creations. The area will also feature the “Imagination Celebration” ride and the “Block Party Carousel.”

3. Lego Ninjago World

Guests will learn to spin, climb, and become a master of the elements before putting their training to the test on the Ninjago interactive dark ride.

4. Heartlake City

Guests will have the chance to meet Lego characters Emma, Olivia, Stephanie, Andrea and Mia at an outdoor stage followed by a balloon ride over Pinefall Woods and sample “Granny’s Apple Fries,” a favorite at Legoland parks.

5. Knights’ Kingdom

This area will be home to the park’s Dragon Coaster. The kid-friendly coaster is expected to be a Zierer “Force Five” model found at four other Legoland parks. It will stand 52 feet tall with a top speed of 37 mph, likely featuring an indoor section as well.

6. Lego City

In this Lego metropolis, guests will assist Lego City firefighters at Rescue Academy and attend Lego Driving School.

The area will feature an array of attractions including restaurants, shops and a theater.

7. Pirate Shores

“Young buccaneers” can find adventures on spinning rides and the Rogue Wave Riders interactive water ride.

8. Miniland

Last but not least, the Legoland theme park fixture, “Miniland,” will feature a panorama of Lego-built cities from across the country along with interactive features scattered throughout.

Guests can “go from the Statue of Liberty to Times Square in just a few steps, and see bustling streets full of busy, animated pedestrians – even a moving subway.”

The Legoland New York Resort will be construction a 500-acre site roughly 60 miles northwest of New York City in Goshen, New York. It is the first major theme park in the northeast to be built from the ground up in decades.

The Legoland New York Resort will also feature a 250-room Legoland Hotel, which will be open year-round. It will feature a kid-sized buffet, play areas and kid-friendly nightly entertainment.

The theme park will be open seasonally from the spring through the fall. It is the ninth Legoland theme park from parent company Merlin Entertainments’ and the third in the United States, joining Legoland California and Legoland Florida. At an expected cost of $350 million, it will be Merlin’s largest investment in a single park to date.

Legoland New York is scheduled to open in the spring of 2020. For more information, visit the park’s website.
