Things to Know About the I-X Indoor Amusement Park

On Friday, March 30th we visited the I-X Indoor Amusement Park, held annually at the I-X Center in Cleveland, Ohio from mid-March through Mid-August. This was my first visit and going in I didn’t know much what to expect.

The best way I can describe it is it’s like a state fair but is located indoors. It’s geared towards family, especially after a curfew was put into effect after some problems occurred last year. There’s rides, games, shows, animals, and food.

All the rides are portable except one: the central Ferris Wheel that juts out above the roof of the building and offers a view of the surrounding airport. The 125-foot wheel premiered at the 1992 Greater Cleveland Auto Show, at which time it was the world’s tallest indoor Ferris wheel. The top of the wheel is enclosed in a glass atrium and rises approximately 35 feet above the main roof, making for a very unique ride experience that you can see in the video below.

For us roller coaster enthusiasts, there’s five credits to be had (six if you count Larson loops). On my visit I was only able to add one to my count. My four year old picked up two (he’s now at eight credits). The unique looking spinning coaster was closed for the day. When we were near G-Force, a shuttle wingrider looking coaster, also had a problem with the catch car not releasing the vehicle at the top of the hill, which you can also see at the end of our tour video.

My biggest complaint is the number of attractions that require an additional fee. I would much prefer if they simply raised the admission price a few dollars and then have everything included.

This year runs from March 23 – April 15. You can get tickets online for around $20.
