Harley Quinn Crazy Coaster Lead Skywarp Car Revealed

At the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) Attractions Expo this week, the lead car for the new Harley Quinn Crazy Coaster, coming to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in 2018, was revealed. Harley Quinn was announced back in August, and is the first ever “Skywarp” ride being built by ride designers Skyline Attractions. Last week we wrote a feature on the history of Skyline Attractions, which was founded in 2014, and their development of the new ride. Chris Gray, VP and founding partner of Skyline had told us they hoped to be able to have one of the vehicles at the show, and it looks like they succeeded.

The coaster is a figure 8 shaped design, where two connected coaster trains will duel with each other. Each train cycles through the mirrored Immelman Loops, passing the other train in the center of the ride. As Gray told us in our interview, “It takes some of the coolest parts of all roller coasters and does them over and over.”

The ride seats 32 riders in the two trains, with the front and rear cars having identical nose pieces. The interior cars seat four riders facing each other. The cars will use large 16″ diameter, wide-tread, road wheels, and the seats claim to be ergonomically designed for rider comfort.

Six Flags’ James Geiser and Skyline Attractions’ Jeff Pike show off the restraints and seats on the new train car.

“This is the world’s first look at this uniquely designed caster car developed especially for Harley Quinn Crazy Coaster,” Six Flags Vice President of Marketing and Sales James Geiser said in the press release for the reveal. “As the world’s first dual looping coaster and our first to be themed after one of the world’s most iconic female Super-Villains, Six Flags is once again taking thrills to a whole new level.”
