Sol Spin at Knott’s Berry Farm Opening TODAY

The new flat ride opening in the Fiesta Village section of Knott’s Berry Farm, Sol Spin, is going to be opening, somewhat unexpectedly, TODAY! This means it’s opening in time for the final weekend of the Knott’s Boysenberry Festival, great news for the park and guests.

Sol Spin is a Mondial Top Scan, one of only a few in United States (the others being the new Electro-Spin at Carowinds and Samurai at Lagoon Amusement Park). It’s six stories high with six spinning floorless gondolas. The ride takes the spot of Knott’s Windseeker, which was removed back in 2012. The location in Fiesta Village has been empty since, so it’ll be exciting to see something in the spot. The ride has actually been testing recently, with some videos and photos popping up of the ride testing. Below is one from Great American Coasters showing the light package operating at night.

I’m actually heading down to Knott’s for the Boysenberry Festival this weekend, so hopefully I’ll get a chance to check out Sol Spin while I’m down there (if I can find time in between eating boysenberry things). Check out the Knott’s website for more details on hours and such if you want to make the end of the Boysenberry festival.

In other news, check out our review of the new Disneyland Encyclopedia and enter to win a free copy! And make sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter for lots of upcoming reviews and trip reports over the next couple of weeks as we get towards summer (including my thoughts from the end of the Boysenberry Festival).
