A-Z Coaster of the Week: Zeus at Mt. Olympus

We’ve reached the end of another installment of A-Z Coaster of the Week! We’re concluding this cycle with Zeus at Mt. Olympus Water & Theme Park in Wisconsin Dells.

Zeus stands 90 feet tall and features an 85-foot first drop, reaching a top speed of 60 mph. The wooden coaster opened in June of 1997 and was built by the now-defunct Custom Coasters International.

Zeus’ 2,900 feet of track is intertwined with the Hades (now Hades 360) wooden coaster, which is fitting as Zeus and Hades are brothers in Greek mythology. In the above photo, Zeus’ lift hill and first drop is seen on the right.

Zeus was the theme park’s third roller coaster, following Cyclops (1995) and Pegasus (1996).

The roller coaster features one five car, 20-seat train made by Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters (PTC).

Unfortunately, riding Zeus was not a highlight of my visit to Mt. Olympus in 2014. Read my rankings of Mt. Olympus’ coasters here.
