Busch Gardens Williamsburg Announces VR Theater for 2018

Recently, Busch Gardens Williamsburg has started the trend of talking about next year’s park season before the current season even gets started. With Busch Gardens’ 2017 Project, InvadR, opening on April 7, 2017, it’s already time to start talking about what’s going at the park in 2018.

At their Passholder Preview day over the weekend, Busch Gardens Williamsburg announced that their 2018 attraction would be the first Virtual Reality Motion Theater in the North America.

According to the description of the above video, a virtual reality attraction unlike any other is coming to Busch Gardens Williamsburg in the spring of 2018. Utilizing virtual reality headsets and the state-of-the-art motion simulator located on the former site of Europe in the Air, the yet-to-be-named attraction will be the first of its kind in North America.

With this marriage of technology, Busch Gardens will be able to take riders through a portal into a hidden world of mythical characters, set against an Irish theme. The setting of the ride will likely be the “Otherworld,” which according to lore, has been “invisible to humans…until now.”

Europe in the Air will not operate in 2017, however the Unearthed maze for Busch Gardens Williamsburg’s Howl-O-Scream will continue this year.
