Guest Blog: InvadR Construction Update from Attraction Chasers

Our friends Cody and Matt from Attraction Chasers recently took part in a Hard Hat Construction Tour for InvadR at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. They were kind enough to share some their photos and videos with us!

One of two major Great Coasters International Projects in the United States this off-season, InvadR will be Busch Gardens Williamsburg’s first wooden coaster.

InvadR merchandise that will be available for the whole family!

InvadR will be located in New France, and keeping with the area’s theme, all of the buildings and themed objects will keep the wooden motif.

The station and the queue look great with lots of fresh wood.

InvadR will feature a 74′ first drop, which will make it a perfect “tweener” coaster for families and those who want something more intense than Grover’s Alpine Express, but aren’t quite ready for Griffon or Apollo’s Chariot.

A look at InvadR’s transfer track.

Matt and Cody estimate that about 75% of the track work and theming are complete.

Busch Gardens Williamsburg’s Railway will pass through the supports of the lift hill. Some great interaction there!

Up close and personal with InvadR’s track.

InvadR will feature 9 airtime hills, which look great!

This gap in the track was left open so that construction cranes could work on the coaster. The track will be completed soon.

Some track work still to do on the helix, which looks like it’s going to have some incredible lateral g-forces.

The first drop will feature a tunnel, both under ground, and on the track as well.

More lateral g-forces and airtime bunny hills!

There will definitely be some great views from the Busch Gardens Railway.

Work being done on the track.

InvadR will have a height requirement of just 46″, further reinforcing the idea of a wooden coaster good for the entire family!

The coaster is expected to open sometime in April!
