Carowinds to Debut “KidsFest” This Weekend

Over the past several years, Carowinds has created several new special events to showcase the park’s offerings. Last year, the park introduced the “Taste of the Carolinas” food festival that showcased regional cuisines from North and South Carolina, as well as “Bands, Brews & BBQs,” which focused more on the barbecue and beer of the two states.

Earlier this year, Carowinds announced that two new events would be joining their stellar event lineup; Brewfest, the weekend of June 4-5 (We were unable to attend, but check out this review from our friends at CPFoodBlog), and KidsFest, which takes place this weekend, July 16-17.

KidsFest

Unlike any other festival at Carowinds, the focus of Kidsfest are Carowinds’ youngest guests. It will take place in the park’s Planet Snoopy area, and promises “a weekend of super-fun with interactive games, crafts, concerts and special musical guests.”

There are many great family activities scheduled for Kidsfest including:

Atomz Lab – Charlotte-based Atomz Lab will have interactive stations and activities at KidsFest that teach kids the principles of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)

First Responders – Representatives from local police stations, fire departments and the FBI will be at Carowinds during KidsFest to provide fingerprinting, IDing, interactive demonstrations and education on safety.

Lowe’s Build & Grow – Lowe’s Home Improvement will host their popular Build & Grow demonstrations, allowing kids to get hands-on and complete a fun building project.

Music & Entertainment – KidsFest with come alive with roaming entertainment and lively music, including a family dance party led by DJ Road Jams at 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Children’s entertainment act Choo Choo Soul will also be performing at KidsFest at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. in the Peanuts Showplace on Saturday and Sunday.  Choo Choo Soul is comprised of singer Genevieve Goings and her partner, Constantine “DC” Abramson, a dancer and beat boxer dressed as a railroad engineer. According to their Wikipedia page, their music can be described as “kids’ music that won’t drive parents crazy.”

Other activities include cookie painting and “target practice” at the Cabella’s S.A.F.E. Archery Range.

Of course, there are also a dozen family attractions in Planet Snoopy for kids to enjoy. As part of KidsFest, Season Pass Holders and their families can enjoy exclusive ride time (ERT) on Flying Ace Balloon Race, Woodstock Gliders, Snoopy vs. Red Baron, and the Character Carousel from 9:30 am-10:00am on Saturday and Sunday.
