Star Trek Coaster Coming to Movie Park Germany in 2017

A Star Trek coaster is landing at Movie Park Germany — the theme park announced this week that a Star Trek-inspired launched steel roller coaster will open in 2017.

The roller coaster, officially named Star Trek: Operation Enterprise, will be a Mack Rides custom launched model, similar to Helix at Liseberg in Sweden.

While few details about the coaster are known at this time, park officials revealed that the coaster will be the second tallest structure at the park and will accelerate guests at “warp speeds.”

The park’s tallest ride is an Intamin drop tower that stands nearly 200 feet tall. The park’s tallest coaster is MP-Express, a Vekoma Suspended Looping Coaster (SLC) model that stands 109 feet tall. So I assume that the coaster will stand between 110 and 200 feet in height.

Residents were shown the above rendering at a town planning meeting. While it’s likely not an accurate representation of what the coaster will look like, it’s all we have to go on at this point.

The park released a time-lapse video of the construction progress. With much of the groundwork seemingly complete, it hopefully won’t be long before we see track on site.

Star Trek: Operation Enterprise will be Movie Park Germany’s seventh roller coaster.
