SeaWorld Orlando has unveiled on-ride video of its new-for-2016 Mako hyper roller coaster ahead of its scheduled June 10 opening.
Watch the coaster in action below:
The coaster was announced last May. The park equates the ride experience to the movements of a Mako shark. Riders will experience “tight turns, stomach steep drops and endure shark-attack speeds.”
The park also sent us a few off-ride photos of the coaster testing:
Mako will stand 200 feet tall and will reach a top speed of 73 mph during its 4,760-foot-long course.
The hyper coaster will feature three trains each seating 28 riders (seven rows of four), which is a bit shorter than the typical 32- or 36-seat trains.
When it opens, Mako will become the tallest, fastest and longest coaster in Orlando.
The coaster is scheduled to open on June 10. From the video, it appears that a considerable amount of work remains on the coaster’s theming and splashdown section.
Mako will be the centerpiece of a new two-acre shark-themed area that will incude: Shark Encounter, the Sharks Underwater Grill, gift shops, and “shark- and shipwreck-themed educational experiences.”
