Storm Chaser December 2015 Construction Update

Construction crews are making great progress on Kentucky Kingdom’s new-for-2016 Storm Chaser coaster. Spring can’t come soon enough!

Until then, let’s check in on the progress of the twisted Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC) creation.

The former Twisted Twins station now sports a bright red coat of paint, matching the iconic Rocky Mountain Construction”I-Box” track.

More importantly, the lift hill, “barrel roll downdrop” and first airtime hill are complete.

The inverting drop looks like something only possible in a No Limits coaster simulation. But that’s what makes RMC’s coasters so spectacular.

I’m sure the drop will also provide some nice “headchoppers” as riders pass between the scaffolding-style supports.

While the impressive elements constructed are fun to watch rise, the just-as-important construction closer to the ground continues as well.

I think riders may be inverted or sideways more than they’re upright on Storm Chaser.

The “off-axis airtime hill” is complete, which leads into the not-yet-finished “twisted airtime” element.

By the name of these unique elements, one can assume that airtime will be plentiful throughout Storm Chaser.

Once Storm Chaser opens, this will be an optimal spot to watch the coaster outside of the park.

With the rate of progress we’ve seen, it likely won’t be long until trackwork is complete.
