Storm Chaser Construction Continues

Storm Chaser construction has taken a turn for the…ground…at Kentucky Kingdom:

The coming-in-2016 Rocky Mountain Construction coaster’s inverting “barrel roll downdrop” is taking shape, and it looks pretty awesome.

Storm Chaser is utilizing the support structure of the park’s former Twisted Twins wooden coaster. Thanks to the steel support structure, Storm Chaser will be all steel once complete.

The dip following the 100-foot-tall lift hill should provide 24-seat trains with a decent amount of momentum to complete the maneuver. But I’m sure riders will experience a bit of that “RMC hangtime” that riders of Goliath, Twisted Colossus and others have come to know and love.

Closer to the ground, more ledges are being installed. Soon they’ll hold twisted pieces of red RMC I-box track.
