Triotech’s XD Theater

Triotech is a relatively new company in the amusement industry, recently making a name for themselves with their development of new interactive dark rides such as Voyage to the Iron Reef and Wonder Mountain’s Guardian. Maybe a lesser known product offered by Triotech is their XD Theater. These theaters are a step up from your typical motion simulators.

Triotech2I had the chance to experience one of these recently and was blown away. Not only were the 3D graphics phenomenal, but the simulator part of the ride was as realistic as it gets. I’ve been on several motion theater type attractions (inlcuding Star Tours at Disney’s Hollywood Studios) and none compare to the precision Triotech’s XD Theater brings.

Triotech4The motions are choreographed perfectly with the movie that is playing and you actually feel like you are in it. In my experience, I was able to see their Wild West Coaster show. The show was full of drops, turns and other elements you would expect from a roller coaster ride. I was amazed with how well the drops felt like drops and free falls felt like free falls. Triotech uses single-seat technology which enables them to attain up to 2 G’s of force and 400 movements per second.

Triotech3I do not think they could have done a better job of designing such an attraction. If you ever find yourself near one of these, make sure to try it out! Currently there are over 120 in operation and more are popping up all of the time.

Triotech1Have you been on one of these? Let us know what you thought!
