Returning from a short European trip, and a few random thoughts about a new ride on the coaster circuit for us , Baron 1898 at Efteling – the eagerly awaited Bolliger and Mabillard dive machine.
Efteling is always a great park to visit regardless of your ride preference, with a nice mix of family and thrill ride choices, the new coaster is sufficiently different from anything there, whilst fitting in nicely to the ambience.
Baron sits nicely alongside several of the park’s existing coasters making the location a real coaster corner , with Joris en de Draak, Vliegende Hollander and Python vying for your attention, but seeming to complement perfectly.
Lakefront location for the ride is well thought out.
Because it is here, you know the ride will be beautifully detailed, and it is well executed , and themed with nothing left undone.
Whilst not large, or particularly tall, the coaster makes good use of it’s size to provide a unique ride, perfect for the families and fun-seekers who will find it gives thrills and fun in equal measure.
All in all, Baron is a terrific addition to an already well rounded ride selection at Efteling. Judging by the queues on our visit, and reports, it is a very popular introduction, well deserved for a coaster that takes theming to the next level.
Kudos to the folks at Efteling for another great ride. Can’t wait to see what they have in store for us in the coming years.
