Kings Island Adding Water Slide Complex, Improved Parking in 2016

In 2016, Kings Island will open the “Tropical Plunge” slide complex in its Soak City water park — the first major addition to the water park since 2012.

Standing nearly seven stories tall, Tropical Plunge will feature six slides, three of which will be drop-floor “aqua launch” slides.

The floor will drop out from underneath riders, allowing them to free fall into the slide (to get a better idea, read our review of a similar slide at Six Flags Great America).

The three remaining slides will be more traditional in nature.

Tropical Plunge’s six slides will bring Kings Island’s Soak City slide count to 36.

But Soak City isn’t the only area of Kings Island getting attention in 2016. Guests will also find a smoother entrance into the park in 2016 thanks to a unified entrance plaza for vehicles on the north end of the parking lot. The new structure will feed 13 lanes of traffic with special lanes for Gold and Platinum season pass holders. This will improve park entry and exit.
