Coaster101 10-Year Throwback Giveaway: 2008

We’re continuing our series of Coaster101 Throwback Giveaways in celebration of our 10-year anniversary on June 15. That’s right, we’ve been online for almost an entire decade! That’s hard to believe — I guess time flies when you’re riding a lot of coasters.

Today, we’re taking it back to 2008, which was an exciting year for the website. We jumped from a limited free-hosted setup to a shared server which allowed us to use a different publishing platform and have more control over the website’s look and feel.

Waldameer Ravine Flyer IIWe also began growing as a team. Co-admin Nick Weisenberger joined the website in 2008 bringing a wealth of insight into the physics of roller coasters, thanks to his engineering background. Of course he’s still on the team today. See all of Nick’s posts here.

Similar to the earlier years, not all of our content made the “move” from one host and platform to our current setup. But we did manage to preserve some of the highlights, such as our interview with Waldameer general manager Steve Gorman.

We also featured photos of the short-lived Hard Rock Park before it was transformed into the also short-lived Freestyle Music Park.
