Futuristic “SkySpire” Proposed for San Diego

San Diego’s skyline could have a striking addition in the near future. A 250-foot-tall ‘SkySpire’ is one of five attractions proposed for the California city’s waterfront.

According to a local report, ten-passenger gondolas will encircle the tower as they spiral to a rotating restaurant at the top. The tower will also feature two elevators that will act as an express route to the restaurant.

The proposal is a product of U.S. Thrill Rides, the group responsible for Orlando’s Skyscraper “polercoaster.”

At 250 feet, the SkySpire would be 70 feet shorter than the Skytower at SeaWorld San Diego.

A ferris wheel has also been proposed for the spot. The proposals are being considered as a part of a 50-year plan for the city’s waterfront.
