Drone Video from Chernobyl Captures Amusement Park

New video shows in detail the amusement park built in Pripyat, the city abandoned following the 1986 Chernobyl disaster. “Postcards from Pripyat, Chernobyl,” filmed by videographer Danny Cooke, was shot with a DJI Phantom 2 drone and a Canon 7D camera.

The aerial footage gives a new look at never-opened Pripyat amusement park, which was scheduled to open on May 1, 1986 — days following the nuclear disaster.

While the park did not contain a roller coaster, one of its main attractions, a ferris wheel, has become a symbol of the Chernobyl disaster.
