Six Flags Discovery Kingdom Opens Tsunami Soaker May 31

Six Flags Discovery Kingdom will soon debut the park’s newest attraction, Tsunami Soaker, which opens to the public this Saturday, May 31, 2014. The park says the interactive water ride “is guaranteed to provide smiles and thrills for the entire family.”

“Our collection of rides and attractions is quite diverse and Tsunami Soaker is the only one of its kind on the West Coast. This is truly an invigorating new addition for guests of all ages to engage, play and interact with one another,” said Don McCoy, park president. “One of the best features is the individual water cannons that riders and observers can use to douse one another. We predict a lot of water battles among guests.”

Tsunami Soaker is a Mack Rides “Twist ‘n Splash” model that features nine boats. All of the boats rotate, allowing its 54 riders to use individual water cannons to continually spray at one another.

The ride’s flooring disappears after riders are boarded. As the floor descends, water fills around the boats that actually float as they rotate.

As part of the park’s ongoing efforts to conserve water, the ride recirculates as much water as is feasible, except of course, what is left on guests.

Riders on Tsunami Soaker not only get wet, but with a water cannon that spurts water streams 15 feet outside the ride perimeter, anyone in the vicinity is bound to get soaked.

Each seat on Tsunami Soaker is equipped with a personal water cannon for riders to participate in an ultimate water battle getting everyone around them completely soaked. Bystanders can aim water cannons at the riders and get wet at the same time.
