GateKeeper in Slow Motion

Aside from the on-ride photographs available for purchase after a coaster ride, seeing riders’ expressions for more than a split second is difficult.

But photographer and cinematographer Joe Vaughn captured incredible slow-motion footage of Cedar Point’s GateKeeper wing coaster last year in high-definition, and he’s now releasing the footage.

Watch the epic Gatekeeper slow-motion video below:

On his website, Joe describes the technique used to film the B&M wing coaster:

We took the Phantom Flex that we purchased from abelcine out to shoot some slow motion on the Gatekeeper and have kept the footage a secret for a whole year. Shot with a mix of frame rates ranging from 1000 to 2500, the expressions of the riders is what caught our attention. GoPros were also mounted in the POV position and pointed toward the riders. Let the summer begin!
