Cedar Point Adding New Dining Options and SlingShot in 2014

Last October, we highlighted two new attractions coming to Cedar Point, the flagship park of the Cedar Fair Entertainment Company. Today, Cedar Point announced that they are adding even more for the upcoming park season.

Chickie’s and Pete’s, a Philadelphia-based Sports Bar, will be replacing Cedar Point’s former Gameday Grill near Blue Streak. The Chickie’s and Pete’s at Cedar Point will join other theme park locations at Cedar Fair properties Dorney Park, Worlds of Fun and Carowinds. They are known for signature menu items such as Philly Cheese Steaks, Lisa’s Blonde Lobster Pie and their legendary Crabfries.

Cedar Point will be replacing Donut Time, located near the park’s entrance, with a full-service Starbucks. Donut Time previously sold Starbucks Coffee, but the new installation will provide Starbucks’ wide variety of coffee, beverages, and pastries.

Pretzels and Cinnamon Bun smells will join the atmosphere at Cedar Point’s Challenge Park, as Auntie Anne’s and Cinnabon are opening locations there, while a Yogurt Plus and Coke Freestyle Station will be coming to the new Gemini Midway area.

Cedar Point is also adding to its arsenal of extra charge amusement rides with the addition of SlingShot, located near Gemini. Cedar Point bills SlingShot as “one of the most exciting vertical thrill rides around.” Riders on SlingShot will be secured in an open-air two-person capsule before being launched nearly 360 feet into the sky at speeds of up to 62 mph. After a brief feeling of weightlessness, riders will descend back towards Earth before catapulting back up and down until the capsule comes to rest back at the launching point. SlingShot is manufactured by Funtime in Australia, who has manufactured several similar rides in the United States.

“These additions show our commitment to offering our guests the best in family fun for the 2014 season,” stated Jason McClure, vice president and general manager of Cedar Point in a press relase. “With a collection of 72 rides, including 17 roller coasters, three kids’ areas, live shows, unique and interesting places to eat and spend the night, Cedar Point offers something fun for everyone.”
