According to this article in the Charlotte Observer, Carowinds is planning a giga coaster, a coaster that stands at least 300 feet tall.
The new 300-foot-tall coaster will cost $30 million. These details were released in a closed-session transcript the Charlotte City Council released Wednesday.
This news comes after last month’s announcement that Cedar Fair would invest $50 million in the park.
- $2.5 million on a new water slide
- $7 million on a new food complex
- $4 million on ticket booth and parking lot improvements
Could Intimidator 305 receive a sibling coaster at the North Carolina/South Carolina state line? Or will this be a different type of coaster.

As someone who has been on Behemoth and Leviathan at Canada’s Wonderland. I don’t wish it. I’d rather they get something else like the Wing Coaster/ Launch Coaster/ Indoor Coaster/ Euro Fighter/ Or RMC Wooden Twister Coaster.
Whatever they’re planning, it better be Intamin. Leviathan wasn’t much of a success. If it is not a giga, I hope it will be a long dive coaster.
I totaly think its gonna be a giga. It will either be like Leviathan or i305. I think its gonna be a great addition to the park if its a giga.
