Casino Pier Reopens After Hurricane Sandy
Casino Pier, the seaside amusement park that was partially destroyed in late October 2012 by Hurricane Sandy, reopened late last week. While all of the pier’s rides are not yet functional, the reopening represents significant progress made by countless people who have worked tirelessly since the storm hit to reopen the pier.
The park’s former Star Jet coaster became a symbol for Hurricane Sandy damage when it was literally washed into the sea. The coaster has since been removed.
The park is now looking forward to a brighter future as a selection of the pier’s rides reopen.
As of this posting, the following Casino Pier rides were operational:
- Wave Swinger
- Pirate’s Hideaway
- Disk’O
- Dizzy Dragons
- Speedway
- Boats
- Car Combo
- Motorcycles
- Carousel
The only roller coaster operating at the pier is Pirate’s Hideaway, a unique indoor/outdoor family coaster.
Visit the pier’s website to stay updated on the pier’s recovery. We wish the entire Casino Pier team all the best!
