Legoland Florida’s World of Chima Opens Today

Today marks the official opening of World of Chima, Legoland Florida’s latest expansion. The Cartoon Network show-inspired land features Quest for CHI, an interactive family-friendly water ride among other attractions.

Quest for CHI is a “splash battle” type ride that allows families to soak other riders with water cannons. The eight-seat boats travel through interactive indoor and outdoor scenes. Riders can also use the water cannons activate interactive elements within the ride’s show scenes.

Mount Cavora, a “floating island in the sky”, is seen towering over the Quest for CHI attraction. The structure stands 55 feet from the ground and rushes 1,000 gallons of water underneath it every minute. Seen in the photo above are construction crews adding the Mount Cavora structure to the top of the support column.

The expansion also includes two play areas, a 4-D movie experience and a meet-and-greet spot. As a Legoland theme park area, World of Chima contains 150 Lego models made of a combined 2 million Lego bricks.

Legoland management and child ambassadors were on hand to help open the new area in a recent media preview event.

“The World of Chima will become a signature land for LEGOLAND Florida and provides an experience unlike any other in our park today,” said Adrian Jones, Legoland Florida General Manager. “Developing and opening yet another expansion is a prime example of how Legoland Florida continues to provide unique guest experiences, rides, shows and attractions for families with children ages 2-12.

I’m happy to see Legoland Florida performing so well and continuing to expand and diversify the park’s offerings. As seen in the new Legoland Florida park map above, the park has grown significantly since opening in 2011.
