Cedar Point 2013 Report

Many people know that Cedar Point’s new attraction this year is Gatekeeper (and you can read our GateKeeper review here) and the front entrance was renovated, but did you know there were quite a few other changes that also happened this year inside of the park? Let’s take a look at the list of what was changed this year.

The biggest change that everyone should noticed right away is that the park now offers Coca-Cola products as the official drink of not only just Cedar Point, but also the rest of the Cedar Fair parks across the country. This also included Coke Freestyle machines, which for those who have not experienced this drink marvel, you can choose over 125 different flavors of Coke products, ranging from Lime Coke, Raspberry Sprite, Vanilla Barq’s Root Beer, to the infamous Peach Fanta. They are located in various locations inside of the park, so if you see one, use it to fill up your souvenir cup!

A new franchise has been brought into the park this year, Auntie Anne’s pretzels. Those who have never had one of their pretzels at their local mall are missing out. The new stand is located in between Pagoda Gift Shop and Scrambler in the old pretzel place. They offer all sorts of flavors of their soft pretzels, ranging from garlic to cinnamon sugar.

The food stands near Gatekeeper received a fresh new look with a paint scheme similar to Gatekeeper. The former salt water taffy and fudge stands have been renovated into a Coke Freestyle shop and a new yogurt shop where you get to pick from an assortment of toppings to add to your favorite yogurt flavor.

Power Tower also received a brand new sign this year that matches the structure of the ride. That should help guests figure out where the entrance for the ride is as it was kind of difficult to find before.

FastLane, Cedar Point’s “skip the line” pass system, now has a higher-tiered “FastLane Plus” that adds Gatekeeper and Top Thrill Dragster to the unlimited rides list for FastLane. The pass does have a slightly higher cost than normal FastLane and can also sell out quicker, but it’s well worth it if you want to ride Gatekeeper several times during your trip.

Luminosity, Cedar Point’s family friendly after dark show, will be back this year with an all new lineup of songs and choreography. This high-energy show will start back up on May 31st, running every night except on Tuesdays, until August 18.

That should cover the big changes this year. Cedar Point should also announce the news about what’s new for Halloweekends later this summer, so stay tuned to find out what’s new for the 17th year of this awesome fall event.
