We travel to my home state of Tennessee for this week’s A-Z Coaster of the Week. Dollywood’s Wild Eagle was the first B&M wing coaster to open in the United States when it debuted in March of 2012.
Dollywood officials announced Wild Eagle in early September of 2011, although pieces of the coaster’s track were seen earlier in the summer.
Unlike Dollywood’s other roller coasters, Wild Eagle is situated atop a large hill, making the coaster visible from multiple areas within the park.
The coaster features four inversions, including a zero-g roll as seen in the photo above.
The coaster’s 28-seat trains traverse over 3,100 feet of track.
The coaster stands 210 feet tall and features a 135-foot first drop.
This steel eagle sculpture outside the coaster’s entrance has a 42-foot wingspan.
