The Beast: Behind the Scenes

Last August, Kings Island provided the opportunity to take a behind the scenes tour of their legendary coaster. Taking a tour around any roller coaster would be great, but it being The Beast, I had to go experience it. The tour lasted about an hour and took us all over the 35 acres it sits on. It was quite incredible to see the trains go by so fast into the first tunnel and then speed out the other side, diving down into the woods. We also got to stand on the tunnels about half way through the ride and feel the train race under us! The next stop on the tour was the second lift hill. We stood right next to the chainlift motor and watched it speed up as the train approached.

The final stop was in the famous enclosed double helix. Getting to stand in the middle of the helix and watch trains circle around me was awesome. I put my hand on one of the wooden beams and could feel the structure shake as the trains zipped by.

The Beast tour was an unforgettable experience and I hope they give the chance again so more people can see it!  Has anyone else been on a similar tour?

Great report! Did you see (or hear of) any animals while you were on the tour?

Thanks! No animals, but there was a plastic monster looking thing tucked away in some grass… maybe an old ride prop? If you know where it is then you can see it during the ride.
